International Community Service and Student Recruitment at Fatoni University, Thailand

Thailand, January 22, 2025 – On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at 10:11 WIB, the delegation from the Sharia Financial Management Study Program (MKS), Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI) UIN Sunan Kalijaga continued their international visit to Fatoni University, Thailand. This visit aimed to establish strategic collaboration, particularly in recruiting Thai students to continue their studies at UIN Sunan Kalijaga, as well as to strengthen academic ties in Islamic economics.
The MKS delegation was warmly welcomed by the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Fatoni University, along with the heads of study programs. In his remarks, the Fatoni University representative expressed openness to the collaboration opportunities offered, particularly in recruiting qualified students to continue their studies in the Sharia Financial Management Study Program. Additionally, the university also shared the latest developments regarding the rapidly growing Sharia cooperative at Fatoni University. This opens opportunities for Fatoni University to become a location for the Independent Learning-Independent Campus (MBKM) program or Field Work Practice (PKL) for MKS students.
On this occasion, lecturers from the Sharia Financial Management Study Program, Mr. Faisal, S.E.I., M.E.I., and Mr. Furqonul Haq, S.E.I., M.E.I., provided in-depth presentations on the practices and developments of Islamic economics in Indonesia. The key topic discussed was the significant impact of Cash Waqf Linked Sukuk implementation on fostered communities in Indonesia. This activity also served as part of the implementation of the Three Pillars of Higher Education in the form of International Engagement or International Community Service.
The discussion between the MKS delegation and Fatoni University was intensive and productive. Both parties discussed various developments related to Islamic economic practices in their respective countries, making it a beneficial platform for cross-knowledge exchange. This collaboration is expected to broaden academic insights and promote the development of Islamic economics through education.
Through this visit, the Sharia Financial Management Study Program, FEBI, UIN Sunan Kalijaga and Fatoni University are expected to strengthen collaboration in various fields, including student recruitment, curriculum development, and joint research relevant to Islamic economic issues in the Southeast Asian regions. With this synergy, both institutions are expected to contribute significantly to the development of Islamic economics at the regional and international levels.
