International Academic Collaboration: Lecturer Exchange Program between UIN Sunan Kalijaga and UiTM Shah Alam Melaka in Risk Management

As part of an initiative to enhance the quality of higher education through international collaboration, the Sharia Financial Management Program (MKS) Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI) UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta has launched a lecturer exchange program with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam Melaka, Malaysia. This program is designed to provide a more holistic academic experience by facilitating interactions between academics with complementary backgrounds and expertise in similar fields, yet with diverse perspectives.
To enrich students' insights, Dr. Darmawan, M.AB, a risk management expert from UIN Sunan Kalijaga, will teach a half-semester course on Risk Management at UiTM Shah Alam Melaka. With his extensive experience in risk studies, Dr. Darmawan is expected to bring a more contextual approach from an Indonesian perspective to managing risks in the financial sector, both theoretically and practically. This approach will provide a new dimension to the understanding of risk management for students at UiTM.
Conversely, Dr. Siti Nor Amira Binti Mohamad, an expert in Islamic Financial Risk Management from UiTM, will teach a Risk Management course in the International Undergraduate Program (IUP) of the Sharia Financial Management Study Program, UIN Sunan Kalijaga. With her in-depth expertise in Sharia financial risk management, Dr. Siti Nor Amira will offer a broader international perspective and add a crucial dimension to students' understanding of risk management within the context of Sharia-based finance. This experience will enrich the competencies of MKS students in facing global challenges in the financial world.
This lecturer exchange program is expected not only to serve as a means of knowledge transfer but also to strengthen academic relations between higher education institutions in both countries. Additionally, the program aims to provide a stronger foundation for students in understanding the application of risk management theory and practice on a global scale, from both conventional and Sharia perspectives. Thus, this program will significantly contribute to the development of academic and professional capacities in risk management while enriching interactions between leading higher education institutions in the Southeast Asian region.
