Collaboration on Distance Learning and International Research with Universiti Sains Malaysia
Malaysia, January 21, 2025 – On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, during the second day of the International Lecturer Mobility Program (ILMA), the delegation from the Sharia Financial Management Study Program (MKS) continued their visit to the School of Distance Education at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). The MKS delegation was welcomed by USM leadership, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zulnaidi Yaacob (Dean, School of Distance Education), Dr. Chua Hang Kuen (Deputy Dean, Technology & Learning Supports), Dr. Radziah Adam (Economic Section, SDE), and Dr. Norhanishah Mohd Yunos (Economic Section, SDE).
The visit commenced with a group photo session between the MKS delegation and representatives from the School of Distance Education, USM. This was followed by a welcoming speech by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zulnaidi Yaacob, Dean of the School of Distance Education, USM. In his remarks, he expressed respect and enthusiasm for the MKS delegation's visit. The speech was followed by an explanation of the purpose of the visit by Dr. Darmawan, S.Pd., M.A.B., Head of the Sharia Financial Management Study Program. Dr. Darmawan explained that the primary objective of the visit was to establish collaboration in learning and research with the School of Distance Education, USM.
Dean of the School of Distance Education, USM responded positively by requesting MKS to send its latest curriculum in the near future for further review by USM. Additionally, to support research collaboration, USM introduced several lecturers with expertise similar to that of MKS lecturers. Further intensive discussions will be held between the two parties to discuss potential joint research proposals.
Another topic discussed during the visit was a comparative study on the use of e-learning in the learning process. The discussion focused on leveraging technology as an alternative to enhance the effectiveness of distance learning and how e-learning can be optimally integrated into the education system.
Through this visit, it is hoped that a strong collaborative relationship will be established between the Sharia Financial Management Study Program, FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga and the School of Distance Education, USM, resulting in beneficial collaborations in academics, research, and the development of learning technologies.
