Building International Networks: UIN Sunan Kalijaga Students Participate in Exchange Program in Malaysia

Three students from the Sharia Financial Management Study Program, UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Nisa Aulia Rohmah, Mia Izzatul Afkarina, and Lea Fathra Azha Nabiela participated in a student exchange program at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). The program, taking place from October 2023 to February 2024, provided them with the opportunity to engage in a different academic environment and significantly broaden their perspectives.
During the exchange period, the three students participated in various academic and non-academic activities designed to enrich their experiences. They enrolled in courses such as Islamic Treasury and International Trade Finance, Credit Analysis and Financing, Business Plan, Principles of Marketing, and Research Methodology. The courses were conducted in English, which not only improved their language skills but also deepened their understanding of theories and practices in their respective field.
In addition to academic activities, the students were involved in non-academic activities that supported their personal and cultural development. They had the opportunity to interact with students from diverse cultural backgrounds, attend seminars, and participate in social and cultural events organized by the university. These experiences allowed them to gain additional insights into Malaysian culture and build valuable international networks.
This student exchange program is expected to have a significant positive impact on the students, both academically and personally. The experiences gained during the program not only enriched their knowledge and skills but also expanded their professional networks. Such a program underscores the significance of cross-cultural collaboration in higher education and its contribution to shaping globally competitive individuals.
The success of the student exchange program between UIN Sunan Kalijaga and Universiti Utara Malaysia reflects the commitment of both institutions to advancing international education and fostering cross-cultural friendships. This program is a tangible example of efforts to enhance higher education through mutually beneficial learning experiences and broadening students' intellectual horizons.
