The Sharia Financial Management Study Program, Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business, UIN Sunan Kalijaga, recently held a dissemination event regarding student exchange plans with Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia, scheduled for the upcoming semester. The event aimed to provide students with information and insights into the opportunities and benefits of these international exchange programs.
The event was opened by Head of the Study Program, Dr. Mukhamad Yazid Affandi. In his remarks, Dr. Yazid Affandi emphasized the significance of international activities in enhancing the quality of higher education through real-world experiences with the global community. He explained that the student exchange program is a valuable opportunity for students to gain international exposure, enriching their knowledge and skills. Dr. Darmawan, the Head and initiator of this activity, also shared his views, emphasizing the significance of international interaction and cross-cultural experiences in student learning. He noted that such exposure not only broadens academic horizons but also strengthens interpersonal skills and cultural adaptation.
The key speakers at the event were students who had participated in the exchange program the previous semester: Nisa Aulia Rohmah, Mia Izzatul Afkarina, and Lea Fathra Azha Nabiela. They shared their personal experiences during their exchange at UUM and UiTM, including improvements in English proficiency, a deeper understanding of Malaysian culture, and opportunities to interact with international students and professionals. They also revealed how this experience provided them with a competitive edge in the global job market and underscored the significance of participating in international exchange programs for personal and professional development.
This dissemination event is expected to motivate more students to participate in international exchange programs and take advantage of the opportunities to expand their academic and professional reach.
